The existing building on the Site is listed in the Victorian Heritage Register (VHR Number H0626). The first buildings were constructed as factory premises in 1909 for use in manufacturing safety matches by the firm Bryant and May, Bell and Co. Pty Ltd.
The project includes the design of the redevelopment of the existing building to achieve a 4 Star NABERS and 5 Star Green Star Rating. Early works included hazardous materials removal and internal non-structural demolition. Structural demolition was undertaken of elements of the existing building to facilitate the Works, including the penetrations for new lift shafts, risers, stairs and other elements, removal of roofing to allow replacement, etc.
Construction works included the refurbishment of 3 levels (Richmond building) and 4 levels (Clocktower building) to meet Grade A Property Council of Australia requirements. The primary use is general office (Ground Level to Level 3), with plantroom on the upper levels of each building. A car park was provided on lower ground level.
The project was completed in May 2017.
