The Hacer Group decided to gift the award to Site Foreman, Andrew Van Aken, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent treatment earlier this year. Rob Pitts, CEO, said, “Hacer became involved in the Blue September campaign to help raise awareness of men’s health issues, particularly cancer research.  Given one of our own has been affected by prostate cancer, we thought it fitting to gift the prize to Andrew, with the hope it may aid his recovery to complete good health.”

Andrew and his wife Jie are thrilled to have won flights, two night’s accommodation in a Harbour View room at the fabulous Wrest Point and a $100 dining voucher at the iconic Point Revolving Restaurant, in Tasmania.

Hacer’s fundraising was centred round the annual Hacer vs Subbies Blue September Charity Cup. In collaboration with Prime Electrical and major sponsors, Kure Enterprises, Complete Plumbing Drainage, Lecky’s, Apex Welding and Steel Fabrication, IJF Australia, Aussie Lift and Shift and Designer Panel Systems the annual Blue September Australian Rules footy match, in only its second year, took place in Melbourne at the historic Victoria Park, Abbotsford.

The Hacer team comprised of head office and on site personnel while the Subbies consisted of workers from Hacer’s sub-contractors. A convincing win, saw the Subbies take out the 2014 Blue September Charity Cup.  Sale of the Blue September stubby holders, footy jumpers and gold coin donations collected on the day all aided fundraising.  Hacer building sites throughout Melbourne also raised money selling Blue September stubby holders during the month.

Thanks Hacer for your ongoing support and let’s hope you take out the Blue September Charity Cup in 2015!"
